I'm afraid I can't read the language, but it appears to be a mime
extension that tells a reader to unwrap lines. Do I have that correct?

I didn't see anything in the preferences dialog to set the width of
this un-wrapping.

AFAIK, there is no preference dialog setting for that. The idea behind thunderbird and firefox is not to expose all possible settings via ui.

That's a fair decision. I never would have even asked about it except that it came up while working out something else that seemed wrong.

Personally, I think an "Advanced" tab with a bunch of check-boxes for
things like this would be great.

Try to add the following line to your profiles directory prefs.js file:

user_pref("mailnews.display.disable_format_flowed_support", true);

Let me know if and how it worked. If this is successfull I will add it to my FAQ.

I'll give that a try next time I've got Mozilla shut down. I'm really enjoying it as a mailer, by the way.
