the documentation says that sending SIGUSR1 can be used to show and hide waybar. However, the waybar can only be hidden with the signal, not shown. The problem is resolved upstream with commit https://github.com/Alexays/Waybar/pull/3459/commits/a544f4b2cdcf632f1a4424b89f6e3d85ef5aaa85 but there is no released version with the fix. Please consider applying the fix.
