Hi! Please do test the updated samba packages.
I implemented the changes 2 days ago already but tried to test it in various combinations before uploading the new release to debian, - and had to do a few tweaks already. Current revision should work in an expected way not only when upgrading from old (pre-ad-dc-split) samba to current, but also should clean leftover things up when upgrading from past-split samba to current. With and without samba-ad-dc installed at the same time (it is especially important to not remove the startup files when they're actually in use for samba-ad-dc). And with and without AD-DC actually being in use and configured or not. Hopefully I got it all correctly. Initially I didn't bother with all this since SysV startup scripts are kinda obsolete these days and I didn't want to pay significant attention to it. Also, with this new samba release, I added samba-ad-dc to the Recommends: of samba - so with default settings (which is to install recommended packages), on upgrade, people will have the new samba-ad-dc package installed too, - this will ensure existing ad-dc setups wont be broken. Yes, it means more unused packages (also for new installs) for people who only need file-server functionality without active directory, but it is easy to remove and it's better to play safe than sorry. Thanks, /mjt
