Hello, I can confirm this behaviour, well sort of:
When I use "Test Printer" in the printer setup dialog from KDE-Print I usually get only part of the page. Sometimes almost the whole page, sometimes only the first few printer head "lines". But now I said I will accept this anyway and completed setting up the printer. Then I printed a test page from KDE control center and it worked nicely. Then I printed a two page route plan which also worked nicely. Both jobs were completed successfully. On this last try - after fiddling around with it for an hour or so - I used "parallel:/dev/lp0" instead of "epson:/dev/lp0" as printer device URI however. But even with that URI the initial test page during printer setup dialog was not completed. Andreas, could you try setting up the printer regardless of whether the initial test page completed successfully anyway? Maybe this helps. I am using the latest of everything: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ -> dpkg -l | grep -e cupsys ii cupsys 1.2.1-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server ii cupsys-bsd 1.2.1-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - BSD commands ii cupsys-client 1.2.1-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - client programs (SysV) ii cupsys-driver-gutenprin 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4 printer drivers for CUPS ii libcupsys2 1.2.1-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - libs ii libcupsys2-dev 1.2.1-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - development files ii libcupsys2-gnutls10 1.2.1-2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - dummy libs for transition [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ -> dpkg -l | grep -e gutenprint ii gutenprint-doc 4.3.99+cvs20050901-1 users' guide for Gutenprint and CUPS ii gutenprint-locales 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4 locale data files for Gutenprint ii libgutenprint2 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4 runtime for the Gutenprint printer driver library ii libgutenprintui2-1 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4 runtime for the Gutenprint printer driver user interface libra [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ -> dpkg -l | grep -e kdeprint ii kdeprint 3.5.3-1 print system for KDE kdeprint 3.5.3-1 might be needed cause kdeprint from KDE 3.5.2 uses some inofficial CUPS calls that may not be supported anymore in CUPS 1.2.1. I am using an IBM ThinkPad T23 connected to a portreplicator with paralell port set to ECP/EPP mode. I am using an Epson Stylus 600 too. I have nothing more to print right now. I will report back when I find any problems again. Please tell me when you need any logs or whatever. Would be nice to find out what causes the incomplete test pages during printer setup - cause it is quite irritating. After setup the printer now worked fine here. But I do not yet know at all whether it is at all reproducable. Maybe I did a little thing differently this time without noticing. Maybe it has to do with the different printer device URI. One additional thing I did was to purge cupsys-driver-gutenprint and install it again as I had it once that neither KDEPrint nor CUPS web interface could find any printer drivers for my epson.
