Package: libdv4 Version: 0.104-2+b1 Severity: wishlist Hello,
At the moment gnome-media Depends upon gstreamer0.10-plugins-good, which Depends upon libdv4. Since libdv4 Recommends libdv-bin, and libdv-bin is still linked against the old GTK+ 1.2 library, this implies that anyone who installs a recent version of Gnome using aptitude will end up having the old obsolete libgtk1.2 and libglib1.2 library packages pulled in by default. This seems somehow undesirable. To prevent this from happening, would you consider downgrading libdv4's Recommends on libdv-bin to a Suggests? The description of libdv-bin ("sample programs") makes it sound like libdv4 will experience no loss of functionality if libdv-bin is not installed. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-amd64-k8 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages libdv4 depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries Versions of packages libdv4 recommends: pn libdv-bin <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information best regards, -- Kevin B.
