I know this is not the most satisfying solution, especially as some of
you worked on finding ways to improve the reproducibility of the
mono-source package, but my plan is simply to drop it.

It does not have a popcon entry (I guess it means it has never been
installed on a system with popcon reports enabled), nothing depends on
it, nothing build-depends on it. And as a maintainer and user of Mono, I
have no use for this package at all.

It had initially been included following #785308, so it could be used
as a base to build a wine-mono package, but I see no such wine-mono
package in either Debian nor Ubuntu. Since the request for mono-source
had been posted 10 years ago, I assume that the plans for a wine-mono
package have been discontinued.

The removal has already been pushed to Salsa:
https://salsa.debian.org/dotnet-team/mono/-/commit/d00f3529e
I’m not going to do a release including only this change, but this is
going to be part of the next update of src:mono.

If this package is reintroduced at some point, I’ll work with the
Reproducible Builds team to ensure we get it right from the start this
time.
