Package: emacs-gtk
Version: 1:28.2+1-15+deb12u4
Open emacs-gtk and type in the following into the scratch buffer:
small Epsilon U+03B5: ε
straight Epsilon U+03F5: ϵ
small Theta U+03B8: θ
script Theta U+03D1: ϑ
small Pi U+03C0: π
small omega Pi (a variant of small Pi looking like small Omega) U+03D6: ϖ
small Rho U+03C1: ρ
tailed small Rho U+03F1: ϱ
small Phi U+03C6: φ
technical small Phi U+03D5: ϕ
On my system, I see the same glyphs for each pair of the variants despite the
underlying unicode positions being different; cf. the attachment.
M-x describe-font yields this:
name (opened by): -GOOG-Noto Sans
Mono-normal-normal-normal-*-13-*-*-*-*-0-iso10646-1
full name: Noto Sans
Mono:pixelsize=13:foundry=GOOG:weight=normal:slant=normal:width=normal:scalable=true
file name: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/noto/NotoSansMono-Regular.ttf

I kindly ask the the font itself is repaired (in this case, please reassign the
bug report), or that emacs uses a different font by default.
Gratefully,
Peter
