Package: lxqt-wayland-session Version: 0.1.1-2 Followup-For: Bug #1109153 X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]
Dear Don Xu, When I first saw that LXQt had Wayland support, I was excited it felt like a big step forward for the desktop. But that excitement quickly turned into disappointment when the session immediately crashed after login. As someone interested in seeing LXQt develop and modernize, this experience felt discouraging. From a user’s perspective especially for newcomers this kind of failure gives the impression that you don't want new users in LXQt, even if that's not entirely true. Most users won't know that they have to install specific packages and they’ll just assume the session is broken and move on to another desktop. If we want LXQt to attract and keep users particularly those interested in a lightweight, modern Wayland-capable environment then the Wayland session needs to “just work,” or at the very least fail gracefully with a helpful message. Otherwise, we risk pushing people away from a project that deserves more attention. I feel that users should be able to use Wayland and I find it umpresentable that you say "Actually the thing reported is designed to be", then just do not upload it to Debian. Most sincerely, Joel.
