Dear everyone,

I am observing a behaviour that is strongly related to the issue reported here and I must protest making the gateway machine a higher priority than any other explicitly configured (DNS, SRV, mDNS... options).

I am running a network, where only selected machines have direct internet access. apt-cacher-ng provided system updated to all hidden machines. In my case, the gateway is a minimalist Raspi, but apt-cacher-ng is running on a completely different machine. Now, auto-apt-cacher ignorantly returns the IPv6 address of my gateway and apt stops updating:

lestinsk@trixie:~> sudo apt update

No Bookworm machines are affected, but for Trixie, this is a full stop.

Best,
Michael
