(I am aware the OP doesn't use this package anymore but I am addressing the bug for completeness.) I don't think there exists a use case that would benefit from this feature now that sysv-rc-conf by default invokes insserv on Debian to set up the dependency-based boot sequence, making priority levels unimportant let alone the need to remove a specific service from the cache. (It would be nice if a future version of sysv-rc-conf gained a native capability to update dependency-based booting so it doesn't need to invoke an external tool.) So the service cache is really not much use at all now. The interesting use case for it, which I still think would not benefit from selective purging, is as a way of saving and restoring service symlink settings, as per this ancient feature request: https://sourceforge.net/p/sysv-rc-conf/feature-requests/1/
