Hi. Thanks for the report. I think this is unambiguously a bug.
Programs should not fail without printing an error message.
Simon Josefsson writes ("Bug#1135721: git-debpush --remote=foobar silently
exits"):
> If the remote passed with a --remote that isn't known by git,
> git-debpush exit with code 1 but no error message.
I think this may be related to (or even have the same underlying cause
as) #1132469.
