Hi Alexander,

thank you for closing this bug promptly after a patch was provided.

I nevertheless wanted to make two remarks regarding the upload.

The changelog contains the entry

  * updated homepage, not that it matters (closes: #1134786)

I think it would have been better to omit the “not that it matters”
part. Bug reporters and contributors usually act in good faith when
reporting issues or providing patches, and such remarks can easily be
perceived as dismissive of their effort. I do not think this sends a
particularly welcoming signal to contributors.

Additionally, the remark does not really add information to the
changelog itself. The relevant information is already conveyed by the
actual change and the bug closure reference.

As a second point: the repository I had prepared in the Perl team
namespace also contained a few packaging modernisations, such as DEP-5
copyright format, watch file version 5, and the use of debhelper-compat.
These are approaches that have become fairly common across Debian
packaging, including within the Perl ecosystem.

In addition, collaborative maintenance via Git on Salsa has become
increasingly common in Debian because it lowers the barrier for
contributions, reviews, and drive-by fixes. This was part of the
motivation for preparing the repository there.

You are of course free to maintain the package in whatever way you
consider appropriate, but I wanted to point out that these changes are
available and could simply be cherry-picked if you consider them useful
for future uploads.

Thank you for considering these remarks.

Kind regards
    Andreas.
