Setting to release-critical Why *this* bug?
1) This is the bug that reports abandoned upstream 2) fsck.fat and mkfs.fat are in the same package; but only fsck.fat has important bugs that make it unsuitable for purpose. The current status of fsck.fat is if it reports issues, close it down and switch to something else. 3) This bug is in my way for providing a stopgap fix; if cleared, I could immediately provide a working package (with a horrible dependency list) that does this fsck.fat's job. I'm pretty much ready for extensive testing at this point.
