I am considering this already. Since tag2upload I prefer salsa for
convenience reasons.
The problem that there is a vzlogger upstream packaging will however
stay around for some time (until vzlogger reaches oldstable at least,
we (vzlogger) are currently still packaging for bullseye).
Upstream packaging can be in the upstream branches with no problem, many
packages are also published by the upstream authors. I think that gbp
import-orig cleans out debian/ when doing an import.
I would take https://optimizedbyotto.com/post/debian-packaging-from-git/
as instructions as you're starting anew anyway. Maybe you would also
commit an git rm -r debian/ between the two git checkout -b calls. I do
not have experience with that but I would take a look at your repository
before you upload.
Do you want me to create debian/vzlogger on salsa and to give you
privileges, or are you a DD yourself? If you want me to help here, just
give me your salsa username.
