People who do not understand enough like you often oversee important issues 
like you do in this case...

The recent official cdrtools 

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

have been verified to work correctly when installed suid-root on Linux and 
Linux definitely requires cdrecord to be run with root privileges in order to 
be able to use all needed SCSI commands.
