https://lists.debian.org/debian-fonts/2026/08/msg00129.html There is an existing font-outside-font-dir tag, which triggers if any font is installed outside of /usr/share/fonts. However, compressed web fonts should not be installed in this directory because they cause problems with fontconfig. The policy has been standardized that WOFF and WOFF2 fonts should be installed under /usr/share/fonts-fontname/woff and /usr/share/fonts-fontname/woff2, respectively. This MR below updates the font-outside-font-dir tag to not recommend that WOFF and WOFF2 fonts be installed under /usr/share/fonts, and adds a new tag that recommends the correct location for them. https://salsa.debian.org/lintian/lintian/-/merge_requests/810
