Hi Sebastian,
As you can see, the packages doesn't ship any byte-compiled modules.
Thay're instead placed in /usr/share/python-support/istanbul and
compiled at install time by python-support.
I really think that this is a non-bug; I've also talked with other
developers and they agree with me:

<buxy> files are in /usr/share/python-support and will be byte-compiled
        as required for python2.4 when it will be available

<buxy> kaeso: close the bug explaining that the packages uses
        python-support appropriately and that it doesn't provide files
        in site-packages and close it
