Package: asterisk Version: 1:1.2.7.1.dfsg-3 Severity: normal In the default configuration asterisk runs as an unprivileged user, but the binary tries to create and use /var/run/asterisk.pid and /var/run/asterisk.ctl and fails (without the .ctl the -r function will not work).
There is a /var/run/asterisk directory presumably setup for this purpose but it's not trying to use it. The only fix currently is to run asterisk as root, which is not ideal.
