creating the .deb package works fine. But when uploading the .deb file to a 
local 
repository server und generating the Packages.gz file the following error 
occurs:
  creating repository in common/./dists/testing/main/binary-i386/ ...
  E: This is not a valid DEB archive, missing 'debian-binary' member
  E: Errors apply to file 
  './dists/testing/main/binary-i386/googleearth_4.0.1693-1_i386.deb'

using this command on Debian/stable
  apt-ftparchive packages ./dists/testing/main/binary-i386 | gzip -c > \
  ./dists/testing/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz
