I assume you talk about the initscripts dependency on e2fsprogs (>= 1.32+1.33-WIP-2003.04.14-1). How do you know that initscripts do not need e2fsprogs? I am unsure why the dependency is there in the first place, and fail to find anything in the changelog. Because of this, I am reluctant to change it.
