Right, it was a 7.2 cluster from Woody.
(First I was thinking it was the new 7.4-backport)

I was using libnss-pgsql and libpam-pgsql1 and the home was /PostgreSQL.

If you install from scratch it works for me too.

Since we are in fron of etch release in December, I will use 8.1
immediately (if it will come with Etch)

I know, but I have created the Cluser by hand and setup utf-8 because I
must support any languages...
