Package: kernel-source-2.6.8 Version: 2.6.8-13 Severity: important *** Please type your report below this line *** Hi!
I tried to build a kernel like in package kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp on my side. I take your kernel-source package and put file config-2.6.8-1-686-smp in /usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.8/ without any change. After make-kpkg --append_to_version -2-686-smp --initrd kernel_image and install I got a kernel with which VESA-framebuffer for console doesn't work with boot potion "vga=791" like the original kernel from Debian package. I get a black screen on all consoles and there is no /dev/fb0 device. I can't build any self-compiled kernel with VESA-framebuffer from this source-package. Is my way to build a original Debian Kernel on my machine wrong or is there any problem with the kernel-source or config file?
