Hm, I'd prefer not to do this, since I'm not familiar with parted's capabilities. E.g. parted cannot resize an hfs partition with active journal (#294773). Can it *create* a journalled hfs(+) volume? It seems that HFSX isn't supported yet. Not at all, or to which degree...? I see you've filed a RFH for parted, but I think this is a five-minutes-job for a maintainer.
