Package: debian-installer Severity: important Installer was unable to mount second of two JFS volumes
I have 2 JFS volumes: for / and for /home. Installer had problems with mounting both of them in unpredictible way, so I ended up with formatting the root partition (sda5) and not mounting /home in the installer. The log on the console 4 said something about not being able to mount XFS (sic!). So I installed using following technique: 1. step through all installer screens up to part man 2. use /dev/sda5 as jfs 3. do not use /dev/sda7 4. go to console && modprobe -r xfs 5. go back to installer and proceed with formatting /dev/sda5 6. be happy debian user again =) # parted /dev/sda p Disk /dev/sda: 200GB Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B Partition Table: msdos Number Start End Size Type File system Flags 1 32,3kB 140GB 140GB primary fat32 boot, lba 2 140GB 200GB 60,0GB extended lba 5 140GB 150GB 10,0GB logical jfs boot 6 150GB 152GB 1999MB logical linux-swap 7 152GB 200GB 48,0GB logical jfs ps: thanks for your great work. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-amd64-k8 Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) -- BR.
