I would expect this option to work another way. I'd like to have ssh executed for building up an ssh tunnel for forwarding the port. When the ssh connection is established rdesktop localhost:$port is executed.
For this X forwarding does not need to be enabled on the server or the client and you don't need X libs on the server, which are usually not installed on a gateway server in a network where one might ssh to. I get errors saying it could not open the display. Thatlike problems whould disapper when using a ssh tcp-port-tunnel.
