I am thinking of removing k3bsetup from the Debian package since it's seems to be that K3b should work on Debian without having to use k3bsetup to manually change the permissions. (see bug #381170 [1]). Is there a particular reason you need to run K3bsetup? If you're trying to change the permissions on cdrecord, the best way to do that on Debian is "dpkg-reconfigure cdrecord". However, many users have reported that this is in fact unnecessary if the user is a member of the cdrom group.
