It happens with the sample dotzile from 2.2.13. I'm attaching it for your
comfort.
I can't repro either problem with 2.2.19 and the dotzile you sent: zile
simply can't make the backup, complains (in the minibuffer) and doesn't
insert anything in the buffer.
