See "notify the maintainer via BTS before uploading" in the "release update" on 8 August, obviously meant to give the maintainer a chance to explain why it would be a bad moment to upload an NMU. See also the developers-reference about "contact the developer first, and act later". > Please take my word that I didn't intend to step on your toes.
