Hello, Please note that the Diagnostics section of the man page says:
Of course, trying to print an error message would be futile if an
error resulted from an output function, so par doesn't bother doing
any error checking on output functions.
This is because the errors from "par" are put on the output stream by
default (and not the error stream!) unless the "E" option is set.
