If this option is not checked, then this text is wrongly displayed with the proportional font defined as "Proportional" in the font configuration window, which is definitely undesirable for preformatted text. Remedy: Selecting "View | Page Style | No Style" displays the block with the monospaced font, regardless of the "Allow pages to choose own font" option.
