OK, I managed to backport cdrkit version 5:1.0~pre4-1 to sarge. After installing cdda2wav, I redid the test. Unfortunately, it seems that the result is the same... In detail: $ cdda2wav -version cdda2wav version 2.01.01a08+debburn NOTE: modified version of the cdrkit suite, differs from the original With the following ~/.jack3rc : # jackrc-version:31 ripper:cdda2wav base_dir:~/TEST_jack unusable_chars:[' ', '/'] replacement_chars:['_', '_'] I insert a the "enhanced CD" (with 9 audio tracks followed by 1 data track) and issue the following command: $ jack -Q -t 1-9 Again, jack queries freedb.org and begins ripping and encoding. Once again, track_09.wav generation never completes, with jack interface saying that DAE is "waiting". In the meanwhile, tracks 1 through 8 are encoded. After waiting for a while, I exit from jack with a CTRL+C. My /var/log/kern.log shows several errors: Sep 22 21:55:07 neverland kernel: sr0: CDROM (ioctl) reports ILLEGAL REQUEST.
