I think that it may be a good idea to plug-in a warning message as well when this incompatibility is found (during the installation phase only). That way, the user is encouraged to use the newer stage1 but can continue to the older stage1 at their own risk. I think the warning patch and the proposed patch to the stage1 installation are disjoint so both can be put in concurrently. Regards, Kapil. --
