aha. i had the exact same problem on my machines, which is why i
asked. for some very strange reason it has something to do with
groups in ldap and the fact that this particular package is statically
compiled. if you remove ldap groups the problem goes away (or at least
it did for me).
so, a new upload will probably be coming in a day or two with a real
fix, but in the meantime you might want to go back to the version
in sarge.
