You did specify the < configuration file with the 'c option or the 'WWWOFFLE_PROXY' < environment variable didn't you? If you didn't then it wouldn't know < what user to change to. OK, but the wwwoffle-write man page doesn't mention any of this. The wwwoffle man page does but that isn't good enough.
