Package: xkb-data Version: 0.8-18 Severity: wishlist
It would be nice to change in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/us : (section "alt-intl"): key <AE09> { [ 9, parenleft, dead_breve, dead_breve ] }; key <AE10> { [ 0, parenright, dead_abovering,dead_abovering ] }; to key <AE09> { [ 9, parenleft, leftsinglequotemark, dead_breve ]}; key <AE10> { [ 0, parenright, rightsinglequotemark, dead_abovering ] }; (as used in section "intl"). Reason: in the present alt-intl version, both alt-9 and shift-alt-9 produce dead_breve. This a bit of a waste of key combinations. The proposed modification leaves dead_breve and dead_abovering available with shift-alt, but produces an easy way to type single-quotes by means of alt. Single-quotes are very useful things to have on a system.
