Hi,

after interrupting apt-get update, restarting the system (thus
starting apt-index-watcher) and continuing the upgrade fails to
configure apt-index-watcher:

Starting apt index watcher: apt-index-watcherinvoke-rc.d: initscript
apt-index-watcher, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing apt-index-watcher (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

This is beacuse the postinst calls 'invoke-rc.d apt-index-watcher
start', but the initscript returns 1 if the daemon is already running.

The initscript should return 0 in this case, (like cron, portmap, atd,
etc. do), or the postinst should call 'invoke-rc.d apt-index-watcher
restart'.

Executing '/etc/init.d/apt-index-watcher stop', followed by 'apt-get
upgrade' fixes the dpkg error.

Bye,
