found 327570 sysvinit/2.86.ds1-33 thanks I am too seeing this; /usr/bin/tput is being accessed after /usr was umounted. I suggest either copying /usr/bin/tput to some temporary location, like a tmpfs if you must run it, or provide a fallback for the cases when it's not available -- normal echo should be fine.
