Why do you think that a function on the one hand cannot be a bug on the
other hand?

I understand why upstream puts the version number in the config file,
even more i find it quite reasonable.

But still i regard it as a bug that dpkg asks me for manual interaction
everytime i update cups-pdf just because my cups-pdf configuration
differs from the upstream one.
The configfile handling in dpkg is intended to help you if upstream
changed the configuration and you have local modifications.

And i still don't understand why the version number is needed in the
debian package of cups-pdf. Debian bugreports usually include the
package version anyway.

I feel inclined to reopen the bug report, but i don't see why we should
start a open <-> close war here.
If you refuse to accept my fix to strip the version line from the config
at build time, then the tag wontfix is appropriate.
But don't simply close bugs just because you believe they are no bugs.

I look forward to see you reopening the bug.
