Bug#393061: possible patch but untested on unstable

lde built successfully on my main amd64 box without a patch but I was able to reproduce the reported error on an i386 box - unfortunately it runs testing so I can't be sure that this patch will work on i386 unstable (amd64 is fine with or without). Could someone test for me please?
