does not crash here on a amd64 , using gmplayer
and http://tonelli.sns.it/pub/mplayer/etch/mplayer-skin-blue_1.6-1_all.deb

those line are suspicious . Please move away the directory ~/.mplayer and
try again.

If it does crash, please send us a log of
$ gmplayer -v -v sca80a0.avi
and all the files in /etc/mplayer
