Nothing. I just checked another Etch system that was upgraded from
Sarge:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3929 Jun 12 05:40 /etc/X11/Xsession

So I thought that this missing permission could be unintended. But I
already forwarded my last comment to the wdm bug #386302, that covers
the same problem.
