-e device, --device device
use device as event device. If the switch isn#t used,
/dev/input/event0, /dev/tty0 and /dev/vc/0 are tried in turn. This part of the man page is no longer accurate, it doesn't try even0 by default. FWIW, using /dev/input/event0 is the only way to get a local beep on the nslu2. As noted in #354694, a good way to find the right input device is looking in /sys. The nslu2 has this: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/sys/class/input/input0>cat name ixp4xx beeper -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages beep depends on: ii cdebconf [debconf-2.0] 0.108 Debian Configuration Management Sy ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.8 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries beep recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- see shy jo
