I can generate perfectly valid PDF documents with this font embedded, at least when using Gnumeric or Openoffice.org. And none of my applications (including KPDF and Acroread) crashes when viewing those PDFs, I assume that this bug is rather related to the scribus package, based on the link you gave in the bug report. Also, fontforge does not crash on my system when opening the font. It just uses a lot of memory (> 512 MB RAM recommended to open the font). Moreover, this font has been created with fontforge. If you find a specific flaw in the font itself, please point it out. Otherwise, please consider filing a bug report to the scribus package and ask the maintainer to apply the fix from the scribus CVS.
