I still can't reproduce this bug. If you didn't experience it in the last months, I'd close this bug as not related to squid but caused by resolver or DNS server issues.

I don't know what the cause is; it is intermittent but it is definitely
there. Very weird.

Perhaps there's something very subtly wrong with the way Microsoft sets
up their DNS.
