Did you contact the porters of the relevant architectures about this? It seems to previously have been supported just fine, and introduction of this piece of code is a regression breaking pdns-recursor on half of Debian's architectures. Surely the security bug(s) in question could've been fixed without breaking pdns-recursor on those archs? Please get some porter opinion into this bug log.
