Hmmm ... this sounds weird. I run gnome too: There are two menu entries: 1. Applications -> Internet -> Icedove Mail Client 2. Applications -> Internet -> Icedove Profile Manager The latter is launched with -P; the former without. Do you use the menu entries to launch thunderbird?
