Please inform, yourself and then judge again....

The original (cdrtools) is doubtlessly free software and even Debian did
recently did admit this fact, see:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=350624

The "fork" you are talking about, on the other side repeatedly violates 
Copyright laws.

Do you still like Debian to switch from Free original Software to a
questionable fork? As a note: The "fork" maintainers just started another
attempt to remove Copyright notices without permission from the Author.

Debian should not depend on a fork whose maintainers did not yet grok the
rules of OSS.
