I am surprised that you judge this a "major" new upstream release. But sure - if it breaks ikiwiki then by all means let's avoid it slipping into Etch. Thanks for stopping it in time! A new (minor, as I interpret the version number) upstream version was released today, and I have now packaged it for Debian unstable.
