Hello,

We believe we have a fix for your dump problem. As it turns out the
problem was pretty fundamental to lkcdutils, along with a number of
other issues.

Upstream recently forked off a new development branch and there are a
lot of changes in that branch that are very beneficial to LKCD crash
dumping in Debian. We have been working hard to clean up and provide a
solid crash debugging environment for Debian, as such a new package
has finally entered the Debian archives that we believe will work in
your setup.

Currently it is only available in the experimental repository, but we
are very confident that it is stable and works well (it is not
experimental in the sense that it is dangerous, it just wasn't ready
to go into the unstable/testing queues).

Please try and install the package dumputils, it properly conflicts
with lkcdutils (so you will have to remove that first), but we believe
that dumputils will make this problem go away. Once you have installed
it and tried it, please report back to us your findings. Based on if
it works for you, we will move it into unstable and begin the work to
phase out lkcdutils in favor of dumputils.

To get dumputils, add the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ experimental main non-free contrib

then do an apt-get update, then apt-get install dumputils. You may
wish to remove the experimental line from your apt-sources and update
again when finished.

Let us know what you find,
Micah
