This is indeed the case. I don't know why those images suddenly didn't work anymore on the XServe at the data center, while i was using them just fine a week previous to this. I have the XServe back, and i reseted the PROM, and it should be working fine. That said, due to udev killing the scsi-devfs.sh scripts when they write to the pipe, the whole d-i is totally unusable on this box, and i really don't know why.
